How does plant spacing work?
This estimator uses a simple rectangular grid. It counts positions along each dimension based on the entered spacing, with a half-spacing margin at each edge. Actual layouts may vary.
Example calculation
For a 12 × 6 ft bed with 12-inch plant spacing and 18-inch row spacing, a grid estimate is 48 plants.
Tips for a better estimate
- Measure the actual usable space, not just the outer boundary.
- Double-check units and product packaging before ordering.
- Round purchases up where appropriate to avoid running short.
